Welcome to the Disaster Center Blog!
Here we can share disaster mitigation news, ideas, information, theory, as well as reports of on going disasters.
Each of us exists within our own risk/threat universe. While some risk/threats are common to all, others are related to the kinds of persons we are, the places we live, the choices we make, and the societies that are born within. To understand individuals or societies, we must understand how they apprehend the risk/threat universe that they occupy. Understanding the risks/threats that are present to each of us is required if we are going to create sustainable economic and social developments.
The most humbling experience of my life has involved meeting with people who followed the rules, done everything right in their life, as god gave them to power to see the right, who lost all their material possessions in a disaster. Whether it was a young family or an old couple, what has affected me most has been the quality of their character.
At some point humanity is going to develop a science of disaster mitigation. The object of which will be to enable groups and individuals to secure a sound and stable future by providing them assess to the knowledge and tools needed to mitigate the risks and threats to their lives and livelihoods. I hope that in some way blog will help serve that end.

I have learned that there were between 12,000 and 13,000 murders in the United States in 2006. What I want to know and cannot seem to find is how many of those were crimes of passion committed against a person the killer had some kind of relationship with (any kind, work, friendship, romance, whatever) and how many of those were committed by a madman like Cho or traveling serial killers against people they have no personal connection to?

please email me with the answer if you don't mind Chris. But I'm bookmarking the page also in case I don't hear back, I'll just check back here. Thank you, lolliedotcom@gmail.com

I recently read a report from a UN agency that disasters worldwide are rising. Where might I find statistical information about the problem in the US?

Hi every body, i am Italian, in Italy there are not those serious problem
I've read your comments ...
and that is why I am always surprised and interested when I see on TV what is going on a tornado wherever in the world ..

I would like to do something and because of it I wrote the folling letter to NOAA USA..

Here is a copy of letter

To NOAA USA by email
my email is
(danielecaprini@libero.it)

Good morning
My name is Daniele Caprini
I am an Italian engineer
I live near Milan on the north of Italy and I actually work for public Council of Milan City ..
(tel/fax: 0039 0332 961158)

My friend and mine have a proposition an idea, …
we have created a new special bio-dispositive, a very innovative one, that, for us, can help to reduce the power of a tornado when it is impacting the soil ...

I understand that this can be and sound to you not real, but we assure you that working with natural energy of our beautiful Planet, it is possible to influence a tornados ..

We are not here to tell stories, what we would like to do is test our equipment … we would like to setting it up a pilot project in USA territory ...
We already use the bio-system, how we call it, in farming and rural sector having a very incredible results ...

We think that our bio-system, because it works activated by a combination of solar, telluric, magnetic, cosmic energy, has got a very positive impact not only to plants, vegetables and animals but to diminishing the power of a tornados when it is crossing an area.

It is a very innovative and special system, unique in the world, composed of different components that interact one each other,

How it works .. ?
It works revitalizing and rebalancing the vital energies in the area where it is fixed on .. in connection with the electromagnetic field of the Earth.. it absorbs the immense power of a tornado protecting the surface of Terra from its disastrous influence.

The system do not use other energetic fonts, and it can be installed everywhere … it create no problem to people, animal or things ..
It do not use fluids, chemist, or others products … it is a very big innovative and powerful system that can solve many other problems … and it help to rebalance the EMT of the Planet ..

What we would like to do is to find an organism that really give us the opportunity to test it seriously … somebody can help me ??

Thanks in advance

I’ll be waiting for an answer

Daniele
